Workers' Demand at Picket before the Supreme Court:
DISCLOSE ALL
The militant Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino (BMP) staged a picket of some 100 workers in front of the Supreme Court today, in response of the heated tirades between Chief Justice Renato Corona and President Noynoy Aquino, to reveal each other's Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth or SALN.
The protest launched the group's campaign for all government officials, not just the impeached chif justice to "DISCLOSE ALL" bank accounts, including dollar accounts.
"SALN is not enough! We demand the full disclosure of ALL bank records including dollar accounts of ALL government officials, not just Corona," BMP president Leody de Guzman declared.
"If Noynoy and Corona are truly sincere in their calls for transparency and public accountability, we challenge them to disclose their bank records. Also, if genuine democracy exists in our country, the people's right to know should have the primacy over the property rights of individuals," de Guzman concluded.
At the picket, which is the "opening salvo" of the socialist labor group's campaign for political reforms. including reforms in the electoral and justice system, the protesters carried placards that read: "DISCLOSE ALL!", "LAHAT! Di lang si Corona!" and "Lift the TRO!"
