Aboitiz Power Workers Picket
against Corporate Greed and CBA Deadlock
HUNDREDS of protesters from the union of Aboitiz Power Renewables Inc. (APRI) and their supporters picketed the Aboitiz Corporate Center in Legazpi Street to demand the immediate resolution of collective negotiations.
The AMEU-BMP union said, “Our proposal is justified not only by industry standards – based on the current wages and benefits enjoyed by Chevron/CBK and Kephilco employees. More so, our economic demands are but 1.37% of the company’s projected income of P23.22 Billion for three years”.
“With the breakdown in collective bargaining negotiations, it is self-evident that the union must exercise its right to concerted action – and prepare to strike – if the management persists in prioritizing profit over the welfare of their employees. No to corporate greed!” the union declared.
The protesters assembled around 9:00 a.m. in front of the Makati Fire Station. They also attempted to set up camp at the Aboitiz Corporate Center in solidarity with the global “occupy movement” against corporate greed. #
